Portsmouth didn't happen. We got on the train and travelled as far as Haslemere, where we were told of a power failure at Petersfield. We were instructed to go across to another platform and join a fast train to Portsmouth which was due to come in. So we did. And we boarded the fast train, only to be told that it, too, was stuck in Haslemere and was going nowhere due to the power failure in Petersfield. So eventually, after sitting there on our train in the pouring rain, going nowhere, it became clear that we were going to miss the workshop which we were going down to Portsmouth to do. Meanwhile, it was announced that the train was going to turn around and go back to London, and that anyone who wanted to go to Portsmouth would have to wait for a special emergency bus service. After a bit of probing it became clear that the bus wasn't going to arrive for ages. So we got back on the train and returned to London. So what to do with an unexpectedly free evening? Toia suggested we go to the Tate Modern. So three of us did. And what did we find when we got there? It was unexpectedly closed, due to...guess what? A Power Failure! It was clearly our day to get nowhere. So we went to the pub and had a drink, and that was the end of that. The workshop has been rescheduled for next month.

Meanwhile, I spent the afternoon at a workshop on Psychology and the Alexander Technique. It was fascinating and thought provoking.
